How to read this market

First touchdown odds are long because nobody is ever likely to score first: across 1,087 NFL games, even a team’s leading scorer only got the first TD 30.3% of the time. The market favorite in a typical game sits around +450 and the board runs out past +5000.

Two numbers to keep in mind before betting it. The vig is roughly 19%, about four times a normal spread bet, so taking the best available price is not optional. And position folklore is wrong: wide receivers score the most first touchdowns (37.3%), not running backs (33.9%), even though a running back is usually the shortest price on the board.

Common questions

Where can I find first touchdown odds for every NFL game?

Every game page on this site carries a full first TD odds board: 25 to 35 priced players per game with the best available price across DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars and ESPN BET highlighted.

Why does line shopping matter so much for first TD odds?

The first touchdown market carries roughly 19% vig, about four times a point spread. Books disagree constantly on long shots: the same player can be +900 at one book and +1400 at another. Taking the best price is the single biggest free edge in this market.

Who is usually favored to score the first touchdown?

The shortest price in most games is the favorite's lead running back, typically +400 to +600. But wide receivers actually score the most first touchdowns (37.3% across 1,087 games), so the market favorite is not the most likely position group.
